Junpei Iori
Junpei is in second year at Gekkoukan High. Although he could use more self-confidence, he is an outgoing, fun-loving and cheerful guy. He is also a fiercely loyal friend whom the main character can count on throughout the entire game, even if they have some arguments over who gets to lead the team. All in all, he's the party's morale booster.
Junpei gets recruited into the team by Akihiko, who found him "cryin' like a baby at the convenience store" during his first Dark Hour.
Akihiko Sanada
Akihiko is in third year at Gekkoukan High. He is an undefeated boxing champion, extremely popular with the girls of the school (which tends to trigger Junpei's jealousy), and one of the original SEES members, along with Mitsuru and his best friend Shinjiro. He looks cold and severe, but he is friendly too. He always pushes the others to train harder, himself first, driven by a strong need to protect all those he holds dear.
Akihiko is already part of the team when the main character joins, but because of his injuries it takes a while for him to get back into the combat zone.

Kidding aside, they do seem to get along rather well despite seeming incompatible at first glance. More than once, Akihiko is ready to follow Junpei along in his schemes (such as taking advantage of the fact that they already are sneaking into the school at night to go check the upcoming exams' answers in the Faculty Office, or staying into a public hot spring after the session switches from men only to women only). Further details of the moments of deep friendship/love they have together would be going into spoilers territory, however, so play the game to find out more!
